It’s been over a decade since the Harry Potter films wrapped in , but for the cast and the fans, the magic is far from over.
Thanks to the th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts reunion and a series of candid new interviews, the stars are finally letting us in on the on-set secrets that stayed hidden in the Forbidden Forest for years.
From secret crushes to “peak hormone” periods, the halls of Hogwarts were apparently buzzing with more than just spells—and social media is officially enchanted by the tea being spilled.
Perhaps the most viral moment of the reunion came from the Boy Who Lived himself. Daniel Radcliffe admitted to a massive crush on none other than Helena Bonham Carter.
Despite her playing the villainous Bellatrix Lestrange, Radcliffe was so smitten that he actually wrote her a love letter!
“Dear HBC, it was a pleasure being your costar and coaster in the sense that I always ended up holding your coffee,” the note read. “I do love you, and I just wish I had been born years earlier. I might [have had] a chance.”
Fans on TikTok and X have long “shipped” Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger, and as it turns out, the stars weren’t immune to the chemistry. Tom Felton and Emma Watson have both admitted to a deep, unique bond that goes beyond friendship.
In his memoir Behind the Wand, Felton admitted there was a “spark” between them, calling Watson his “soulmate.” Watson, for her part, wrote the emotional foreword for the book, noting their connection is “far deeper” than an average friendship.
While fans cheered for Ron and Hermione’s long-awaited kiss in the final films, Watson revealed it was actually “one of the hardest things” she ever had to do.
“It just felt wrong, so wrong on every level because Dan, Rupert, and I are so much siblings,” she admitted.
It didn’t help that Radcliffe was teasing them from the sidelines, telling them he was going to come to the set specifically to watch the awkward moment unfold!
If you thought the Yule Ball in The Goblet of Fire looked like a typical high school dance, that’s because it was. Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) revealed that the set was filled with crushes and breakups just like any school.
Radcliffe even joked that the fourth film was “peak hormone” time for the cast. “Every part of my life is connected to [Harry] Potter,” he said, noting that his first kiss and first girlfriends were all found on set.
While the rest of the cast was in the dark, the late, great Alan Rickman was playing the long game. Radcliffe shared that Rickman approached J.K. Rowling very early on to learn Snape’s true backstory.
This led to some hilarious moments where directors would ask Rickman why he was playing a scene a certain way, only for him to mysteriously reply, “I’ll tell you later.”
From Bonnie Wright’s frustrations over Ginny Weasley’s screen time to Jason Isaacs nearly turning down the role of Lucius Malfoy, the wizarding world was clearly just as dramatic off-screen as it was on.
It seems that even after all this time, the bond between these actors—and their fans—remains “Always.”
