Better clear your weekend schedule, because Netflix is doing some serious spring cleaning!
The streaming giant has officially released the list of movies and shows departing the platform in April , and fans are already taking to social media to mourn the loss of some true cinematic staples. From Oscar-winning dramas to cult-classic comedies, the “leaving soon” section is looking pretty stacked.
The “purge” began right at the start of the month, with April marking the exit of heavy hitters like the entire Karate Kid trilogy and the high-octane Rush Hour series. Fans of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker’s legendary chemistry were especially vocal on X (formerly Twitter), with one user writing, “I’m not ready to live in a world where I can’t hit play on Rush Hour at : a.m. anymore!”
But the heartbreak doesn’t stop there. Sci-fi fans only have a limited time to catch Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending Interstellar, while those looking for a good laugh will want to squeeze in Bruce Almighty and Miss Congeniality before they vanish.
Horror enthusiasts are also feeling the heat this month. The revival of Scream—featuring the iconic Ghostface—is set to depart on April , followed closely by the silent tension of A Quiet Place Part II on April .
Perhaps the most devastating loss for the “spooky” crowd is the masterpiece Hereditary, which leaves on April . The film, which famously stars Toni Collette, is often cited on TikTok as one of the most terrifying movies of all time, making its departure a major blow for your next late-night fright fest.
Even A-listers aren’t safe from the rotation. Nicolas Cage fans will need to hurry to watch The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent before April , and Jennifer Lawrence’s R-rated comedy hit No Hard Feelings is taking its final bow on April .
Why the big shuffle? It all comes down to licensing agreements. As contracts expire, Netflix often has to bid farewell to fan favorites to make room for new originals and fresh acquisitions.
