The Young and the Restless scored a casting coup of sorts last fall when it added three veteran soap actors to the canvas for a huge new story. Now, two of those performers have suddenly exited the show, leaving fans wondering what just happened as Lucas Adams and Tamara Braun are on their way out.
Noah and Sienna Leave Genoa City
Adams, Braun, and Roger Howarth all joined the Y&R cast last fall as Noah Newman, Sienna Bacall, and Matt Clark, respectively. While Howarth’s Matt remains in Genoa City and is in the middle of a controversial redemption arc, Noah and Sienna have decided to leave town and head back to Los Angeles, where they met.
The characters made the decision on the August 3rd episode, as they need to get away from Matt, Sienna’s ex-husband and a longtime enemy of Noah’s parents, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case). Both Braun and Adams have worked together before on Days of our Lives, where they played mother and son, Ava and Tripp. Currently, Ava and Tripp are living in China, but could always return to Salem one day. Braun also worked with Howarth on General Hospital, where she played Kim Nero (and before that, Carly Spencer) and he played Franco Baldwin.
Y&R fans were stunned that Noah and Sienna’s story is over already, while also being disappointed that Noah, a legacy character who is the grandson of Eric Braeden‘s Victor Newman, rarely lasts as a young leading man.
“Noah tells Sharon and Mariah that he and Sienna are going back to LA. Why is it so hard for this show to write for Noah? There’s barely enough young characters on #YoungandtheRestless and now they’re getting rid of another one. Why not ship Sienna off and give Noah a reset?” one X user asked.
Some fans really liked Noah and Sienna, but just didn’t see them as a viable couple, despite them leaving town together. “I really liked Sienna. I think the pairing with Noah just wasn’t a good direction for her,” another audience member wrote.
Others had their theories on what went wrong, saying, “The mistake was connecting Matt Clark to Noah. Matt Clark was a Nick & Sharon problem and the focus should have stayed them.”
Whether Noah and Sienna return to Genoa City and Y&R remains to be seen, but their exit story makes it easy for them to be written back onto the canvas at any time.
