When Max learns what has happened, Vinnie immediately rushes to the hospital.
Doctors discover that Penny has developed a blood clot. The situation is frightening because Penny is pregnant, meaning both she and her unborn baby could potentially be at risk. Thankfully, the medical team confirms that Penny and the baby are safe.
The scare, however, changes Penny emotionally.
For perhaps the first time, she is forced to confront how much she has been pushing Vinnie away. She eventually reassures him that she will allow him to become more involved in supporting her. Penny admits that she has often kept him at arm’s length, even when he was trying to help.
But one earlier conversation has left EastEnders viewers particularly nervous.
While Max was contacting the hospital, Penny told him that if the worst happened, he needed to make sure the baby was saved. Although Penny and her baby are ultimately confirmed to be safe after the blood clot, those words have sparked intense speculation about what could happen later.

The two women have a bitter history, and their latest encounter is believed to take place around a funeral. When Linda and Janine come face-to-face again, old wounds quickly reopen, leading to a heated confrontation.
Max, who has developed complicated feelings for Linda since returning to the Square, also becomes caught in the middle.
Janine’s previous actions had a devastating effect on Linda’s life. Their rivalry became particularly dangerous when Janine was involved in a car crash while Linda was drunk and sitting in the passenger seat. Linda was left devastated, believing that the man she loved had died while trying to rescue her. Janine was eventually arrested and sent to prison for her actions, while Shirley Carter was also left heartbroken by Mick’s disappearance and later departed Walford.
Since then, Linda has attempted to rebuild her life. She welcomed her mother, Elaine Peacock, back to Albert Square, and the pair eventually worked together before establishing their own bed and breakfast.
Now Janine’s return threatens to reopen every wound Linda has tried to heal.
The timing is particularly significant because Linda actress Kelly Bright has confirmed her departure from EastEnders after 13 years playing the character. Kelly explained that the soap had become her home and that leaving was an extremely difficult decision. She had apparently made the choice more than a year earlier but agreed to stay longer after being offered an exciting storyline.
Although she will miss her friends and colleagues, she has also expressed excitement about beginning a new chapter and spending more time with her family.
