FBI, FBI: International & FBI: Most Wanted 2024 Fall Teaser
The 2024 fall season represented a major moment for the FBI franchise, bringing all three shows back to CBS on the same night and setting up three very different chapters of the shared universe. FBI returned for Season 7, FBI: International entered Season 4 with one of its biggest leadership changes, and FBI: Most Wanted came back for Season 6. Together, the fall teaser wasn’t simply selling three collections of new cases. It was reminding viewers why the franchise worked so well as a connected television world.
At the center of the night remained FBI, where Maggie Bell, OA Zidan, Jubal Valentine, Isobel Castille and Stuart Scola returned to the New York field office. The Season 7 premiere, “Abandoned,” aired October 15, 2024 and immediately sent the team into a complicated investigation after the death of a seemingly ordinary Brooklyn plumber opened the door to a much larger international case involving the CIA.
For Maggie and OA, another season meant returning to the partnership that had become one of the franchise’s foundations. They had survived enough together that their teamwork no longer required constant explanation. Maggie could recognize when OA was uncomfortable with a situation, while OA had become equally capable of noticing when Maggie was carrying something she wasn’t discussing.
That familiarity gives FBI much of its emotional stability.
The cases can change every week, but Maggie and OA remain the recognizable center.
Scola entered the season facing his own adjustment following Tiffany Wallace’s departure. That change mattered because FBI has always depended heavily on its partnerships. Losing a trusted partner isn’t simply a casting adjustment inside the story; it changes how an agent approaches the job, who they trust beside them and how quickly they can establish the silent communication that experienced partners develop.
Meanwhile, Jubal remained the person trying to keep dozens of moving pieces connected from the Joint Operations Center. When Maggie and OA discover something in the field, Jubal and the analysts can turn that information into the next lead. Isobel then has to consider the larger operational picture and make decisions that may affect far more than the agents immediately involved.
But the biggest transformation advertised around the 2024 FBI lineup belonged to FBI: International.
Scott Forrester was no longer leading the Fly Team.
Instead, viewers were introduced to Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, played by Jesse Lee Soffer.
For longtime procedural viewers, Soffer’s arrival was particularly notable because of his previous run as Jay Halstead on Chicago P.D. However, Wes Mitchell was created as a completely different character. FBI: International wasn’t revealing that Halstead had secretly transferred to another federal agency. It was giving Soffer a new role and allowing him to build a different identity inside another Dick Wolf television universe.
Wes arrived with confidence, intensity and his own approach to leadership.
That immediately changed the Fly Team’s chemistry.
Cameron Vo, Andre Raines, Megan “Smitty” Garretson and Amanda Tate already understood how the team operated internationally. Wes had law-enforcement experience, but Europe presented a different challenge. The Fly Team frequently works across jurisdictions where cooperation with local authorities is essential, meaning simply having an FBI badge doesn’t guarantee control of a situation.
Wes therefore had to learn the environment while simultaneously convincing an established team to trust his decisions.
That made Season 4 feel like more than another collection of international investigations.
It became a rebuilding year for the Fly Team.
Vo was particularly important in that transition. Her experience meant she could become both an ally and a counterweight to Wes. When his instincts pushed him toward immediate action, she could offer the perspective of someone who already understood the realities of working across Europe.
Raines remained another crucial piece of that stability. His calm reliability gave the team continuity during a period when its leadership had changed dramatically.
Smitty provided the international connections and understanding necessary to navigate unfamiliar territory, while Tate helped transform information gathered across different countries into actionable intelligence.
The result was a Fly Team that remained recognizable while clearly entering a new era.
Then there was FBI: Most Wanted.
Season 6 brought Remy Scott and the Fugitive Task Force back for another run of investigations involving dangerous fugitives and complicated pursuits. Dylan McDermott’s Remy had become the show’s central leader, surrounded by a team whose cases frequently required them to move quickly from one jurisdiction to another.
Remy’s leadership style also distinguished Most Wanted from the other two FBI shows.
Maggie and OA frequently work investigations rooted in New York.
The International team operates across Europe.
Remy’s Fugitive Task Force is built around pursuit.
Once the team identifies the person they are searching for, the investigation can become a race to predict where that individual will go next.
That gives FBI: Most Wanted a different energy even when all three programs share the same fictional universe.
The 2024 fall lineup therefore offered three variations on the same basic idea.
FBI focused on the New York field office.
FBI: International expanded the action across borders.
FBI: Most Wanted followed the hunt for fugitives.
The teaser could move rapidly between Maggie and OA, Wes and the Fly Team, and Remy’s Fugitive Task Force without making the shows feel identical.
There was another reason the lineup carried additional excitement: crossovers were always possible.
Characters from the franchise had already appeared across different FBI series, establishing that these weren’t three isolated worlds. A development in one program could potentially bring agents from another into the investigation.
That possibility makes even ordinary interactions interesting.
OA and Remy operate very differently.
Maggie and Vo have different experiences despite occupying similar field-agent roles.
Jubal’s ability to coordinate an enormous operation becomes particularly valuable whenever multiple teams are involved.
And the introduction of Wes created an entirely new relationship for the franchise to explore.
Even without requiring a massive crossover every season, simply knowing these agents exist in the same universe gives the franchise additional scale.
Looking back, the 2024 fall teaser also captures an interesting transitional point because the three-show Tuesday lineup would not remain intact indefinitely. FBI: International ultimately concluded after Season 4, while FBI: Most Wanted concluded after Season 6. That means this promotional period now feels like a snapshot of the final fall in which all three established FBI dramas were returning together for new seasons.
At the time, however, the message was straightforward.
Three teams.
Three missions.
One FBI television universe.
Maggie and OA were returning to New York.
Wes Mitchell was beginning a completely new chapter with the Fly Team.
Remy Scott and the Fugitive Task Force were heading back into the field.
And for viewers who had followed the franchise across all three programs, the 2024 fall teaser promised an entire night built around investigations, partnerships and teams being pushed into situations where trusting the person standing beside them could make all the difference.
