Dylan Keogh’s (William Beck) friends at Holby ED get a call that he’s being rushed into hospital with spine, neck and head injuries in this week’s episode of Casualty.
The beloved character has been spiralling ever since he learnt that son Matty Linlaker (Aron Julius) had been sleeping with Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless).
While Dylan proceeded to report Stevie to Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) in revenge, he has found it incredibly difficult to process the betrayal. In a recent episode of the BBC One medical drama, recovering alcoholic Dylan reached a very dark place, and reached for some champagne while at a ceremony.
The last we saw of Dylan, he was driving in his car with a bottle of clear liquid nearby.
His whereabouts is revealed in this week’s instalment. While it looks like Dylan might be checking into rehab after his relapse, it’s eventually confirmed that he is outside a care home.
Dylan is visiting his father, Brian (David Beames), who we haven’t seen since 2018. On edge and unpredictable, Dylan tells his dad that he’s the reason he’ll never be a proper father to Matty. When Brian fails to properly engage in the conversation, Dylan discovers that his dad has Encephalopathy, and hasn’t recognised his son.
To make matters worse, Dylan attempts to explain who he is, but Brian states that he’s a ‘runt’ who he never cared for.
Back at the ED, Matty receives a voice message from Dylan. He speaks about how he thought that he was like his dad, but has come to realise that he’s not cruel like him, and truly cares for Matty.
To Matty and Stevie’s horror, the message ends with a loud crash. Seconds later, the red phone rings in the ED, and the team discover that Dylan is being brought in with spine, neck and head injuries.
