Ava Is in a Coma and Drew’s Life Is in Danger? | General Hospital Spoilers
Ava Jerome and Drew Cain are heading into an increasingly complicated stretch on General Hospital, but the dramatic claim that Ava is definitely in a coma while Drew is fighting for his life goes beyond what has been firmly established. The safer reading of the current story is that both characters are moving through a dangerous chain of secrets involving Jack Brennan, Nina, Willow and Drew’s increasingly desperate attempts to protect himself. A medical crisis for Ava or another threat against Drew would certainly fit the direction of the storyline, but neither outcome should be treated as confirmed until the show actually puts it on screen.
Ava’s biggest problem begins with her decision to become involved in Drew’s plan against Brennan. Drew believes Brennan possesses evidence capable of destroying his political future, particularly information connected to the McConkey Esplanade money. Instead of allowing Brennan to retain that leverage, Drew wants the incriminating material eliminated.
That puts Ava directly between two men who are accustomed to manipulating the people around them.
Ava agrees to help create an opportunity for Drew while Brennan is distracted. On paper, the scheme seems simple enough: keep Brennan occupied long enough for Drew to make his move.
In Port Charles, however, simple plans almost never remain simple.
Ava is already positioned to think quickly when circumstances begin changing around her. If Brennan realizes she has been working with Drew, Ava could find herself facing questions she cannot easily answer. She may attempt to improvise, but every new explanation creates another opportunity for Brennan to recognize that something is wrong.
This is where speculation about Ava suffering a sudden medical emergency has emerged.
Such a development would certainly create an enormous cliffhanger.
Imagine Ava being discovered unconscious after her meeting with Brennan. She is rushed to General Hospital while doctors attempt to determine what happened. Because Ava cannot immediately explain the events leading up to her collapse, everyone else is left reconstructing the timeline.
Was it an accident?
Was there an unexpected reaction to something?
Did someone deliberately target her?
Or is somebody trying to make the situation look more sinister than it really was?
Those questions could sustain a mystery without immediately confirming that Ava was intentionally harmed.
Nina would likely become deeply concerned.
Whatever disagreements Nina and Ava have experienced over the years, their lives have become intertwined through countless Port Charles crises. Nina also knows enough about Drew to understand that Ava’s involvement with him could have placed her in a difficult position.
If Nina discovered that Drew recruited Ava for his Brennan scheme, she could immediately begin asking questions.
Why did Drew need Ava?
What exactly did he ask her to do?
What happened after Ava approached Brennan?
And what information was Drew trying so desperately to remove?
Those questions could lead Nina directly toward Drew.
That is where the second half of this spoiler theory becomes interesting.
Drew already has enemies.
A lot of them.
His relationships with Willow, Nina, Michael, Alexis and other Port Charles residents have become increasingly toxic. His political problems have created additional pressure, while Brennan possesses information Drew desperately wants neutralized.
Even more dangerous is the fact that Drew has begun responding to threats by escalating.
That strategy can only work for so long.
If something happened to Ava during a plan Drew created, he could suddenly become vulnerable from several directions at once.
Brennan could retaliate.
Nina could blame him.
Carly and Valentin could continue investigating.
Jason could become involved.
And Ava herself could eventually wake up with information Drew would rather remain private.
That last possibility could make a hypothetical coma storyline particularly effective.
Ava wouldn’t need to remain unconscious for long.
Her inability to speak could simply create a temporary information vacuum.
Everyone would have a different version of what happened.
Drew might insist he had nothing to do with Ava’s condition.
Brennan could claim Ava was perfectly fine when he last saw her.
Nina might believe both men are hiding something.
Then Ava wakes up.
One sentence from her could completely change the investigation.
That is classic General Hospital territory.
But Drew’s danger doesn’t necessarily have to come from Ava.
His much larger problem remains Willow.
Willow’s responsibility for shooting Drew is now known by several people. Michael confronted her with evidence, while Kai and Trina have become crucial witnesses to the truth. Alexis also knows what happened and has warned Willow that she will expose her if Willow continues threatening Kai or Trina.
That means Drew is surrounded by people carrying secrets about previous attempts on his life.
And Nina has a secret of her own.
When Drew previously ended up in the lake, Willow eventually attracted suspicion, but Nina was actually responsible for pushing him into the water during their confrontation.
Those overlapping secrets create an extraordinary situation.
If Drew suffers another serious incident, investigators would have a long list of potential suspects before they even begin examining new evidence.
Willow would immediately look vulnerable because of the previous shooting.
Nina would have reason to fear her own actions becoming known.
Ava could possess information about Drew’s plan against Brennan.
Brennan would have an obvious motive to stop Drew from accessing his files.
Carly and Valentin have been developing their own suspicions.
And Jason could become involved because Carly has turned to him for help.
Drew’s life therefore doesn’t need one specific enemy to be in danger.
His own decisions have created the danger.
The most intriguing possibility would be for Drew to believe Brennan is the greatest threat when the real threat comes from somewhere completely unexpected.
Perhaps Drew succeeds in accessing the information he wants.
Perhaps he thinks he has finally gained the advantage.
Then something goes wrong.
Ava becomes unavailable.
Brennan realizes he was manipulated.
Carly and Valentin discover another piece of the puzzle.
Suddenly Drew has no idea which person is coming after him first.
That would also fit with the upcoming material indicating Drew becomes furious after carrying out a vengeful move. His anger suggests that whatever he is attempting does not provide the clean victory he expects.
Ava could be the reason.
If she is unable or unwilling to continue helping him, Drew’s plan could collapse.
Alternatively, Ava may decide that Drew himself has become too dangerous.
Ava Jerome is a survivor.
She has spent years navigating people more powerful than herself by recognizing when an alliance has stopped being useful. If Drew’s scheme begins threatening her freedom or safety, she has no reason to sacrifice herself simply to protect his political ambitions.
She could turn on him.
And Drew might never see it coming.
Brennan is equally unpredictable.
He isn’t someone Drew can easily intimidate. If Brennan discovers that Drew attempted to interfere with information on his computer, he could respond strategically rather than emotionally.
That makes Brennan particularly dangerous.
Drew may expect an immediate confrontation.
Instead, Brennan could wait.
He could allow Drew to believe the plan worked.
Then he could reveal that he has another copy of the evidence or another way to prove what Drew did.
That would leave Drew exposed politically and personally.
Meanwhile, Carly’s involvement raises the stakes even further.
Carly has her own concerns about Brennan, especially because of Josslyn’s connection to the WSB. If she believes Brennan is putting Joss at risk, Carly won’t simply ignore it.
She has already turned toward Jason when she needs help.
Jason entering this situation could completely alter the balance.
He doesn’t need to attack Drew or Brennan to become dangerous to their plans. Jason’s greatest value to Carly is often his ability to see through complicated situations and determine which details actually matter.
If Carly, Jason and Valentin begin comparing what they know, Drew could discover that deleting one piece of evidence isn’t enough.
Too many people are watching him.
A hypothetical Ava medical crisis could be the event that finally brings all of these separate investigations together.
Doctors would focus on Ava.
Nina would demand answers.
Brennan would protect himself.
Drew would attempt to distance himself from the scheme.
Carly and Valentin would become suspicious.
Jason would begin reconstructing events.
Then Ava’s eventual recovery could reveal the missing piece.
The key word, however, remains hypothetical.
Current spoilers support escalating trouble involving Ava, Drew and Brennan, but they do not firmly establish that Ava enters a coma or that Drew suffers a new life-threatening incident exactly as the sensational headline suggests.
Those possibilities should therefore remain predictions.
What is much more certain is that Drew’s situation is deteriorating.
He has too many secrets.
Too many enemies.
Too many people know different pieces of what he has done.
And his attempt to regain control may only create additional problems.
Ava faces a similar danger because she has voluntarily stepped into the middle of Drew and Brennan’s conflict.
She may believe she can control the situation.
Ava usually does.
But this time she is dealing with a scheme where almost everyone has hidden information and nobody completely trusts anyone else.
If Ava does suddenly become unable to tell her side of the story, Port Charles would immediately explode with accusations.
And if Drew subsequently finds himself in danger, the question wouldn’t simply be who wants him gone.
The much harder question would be narrowing down the list.
For now, Ava’s supposed coma and Drew’s latest life-threatening crisis remain unconfirmed developments rather than established General Hospital events.
But the ingredients for a major disaster are already in place.
Ava has entered Drew’s scheme.
Brennan has dangerous information.
Carly and Valentin are asking questions.
Jason is being pulled closer.
Nina and Willow are carrying secrets involving Drew.
And Alexis is reaching the limit of what she is willing to conceal.
One mistake could connect all of those stories.
If that happens, Ava waking up may not end the mystery.
It could be the moment the real mystery begins.
