Emma Watson is proving once again that she is much more than just a big-screen icon.
The Harry Potter alum and dedicated activist has officially teamed up with Time’s Up to help launch a groundbreaking legal advice hotline for women experiencing sexual harassment in the workplace.
The service, which is free for women living in England and Wales, is reportedly the only one of its kind—a fact that Watson herself finds deeply concerning.
“It’s completely staggering to think that this is the only service of its type,” Watson said in a powerful statement that has since gone viral.
The actress pointed to heartbreaking research showing that as many as one in two women experience sexual harassment at work. For Watson, the launch of this hotline represents a major turning point in the global conversation surrounding women’s safety and professional dignity.
“It finally feels like people are realizing the scale of the problem,” she added.
The initiative has quickly sparked a massive wave of support across social media. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram are praising the actress for putting her words into action, with many calling the move a “vital step” for the movement in the U.K.
The goal of the service is simple but essential: to help women understand their legal rights so they can hold both their employers and harassers accountable.
“Understanding what your rights are, how you can assert them and the choices you have… is such a vital part of creating safe workplaces for everyone,” Watson explained. “This advice line is such a huge development.”
This isn’t just a passion project for the actress—she is also a major financial force behind the cause.
The hotline is funded by the Time’s Up UK Justice and Equality Fund, to which Watson previously donated a whopping £ million (approximately $. million).
The service is managed by Rosa, the U.K. Fund for Women and Girls, with legal advice provided by the charity Rights of Women. Deeba Syed, a senior legal officer for the charity, says the goal is to “empower women” through education.
“By advising women about their legal options… we will be able to help them make informed choices about next steps, including how to navigate the legal system with confidence,” Syed stated.
Watson has long been a face of the Time’s Up movement, consistently using her platform to shine a light on systemic issues.
Fans might remember her bold statement at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, where she famously sported a (temporary) “Times Up” tattoo on her forearm to keep the conversation front and center.
From the red carpet to the legal front lines, Emma Watson continues to ensure that her message is heard loud and clear.
As she continues her work with the UN and Time’s Up, her mission remains focused: ensuring that “all women are supported, wherever we work.”
