The Young and the Restless star Amelia Heinle, who plays Victoria Newman on the CBS soap, recently dished on the soapy details of Victoria and Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) romance in a new interview with TV Insider.
Victoria and Kyle Have Sex on August 27th
Heinle shares that Victoria and Kyle are set to steam up the screen on Thursday, August 27th, when they have sex for the first time.
The actress told the publication that while the pairing had initially taken her by surprise, there were clear hints early on that the show might put this unlikely pairing to the test.
Heinle said,
“At one point a while back, I noticed Kyle was always coming to talk to Victoria, or we’d run into each other, and I told Michael, ‘I don’t think they would ever put us together, but this is kind of funny because it feels like they’re trying to test our chemistry, which would be really, really odd.”
However, one day, the executive producer, Sally McDonald, called Heinle up to her office and told her, “We’re giving you a romance with him.”
Heinle responded with,
“Who?”
And she said, “Him,” and she pointed at the monitor because Michael was still on set.
I was like,
“Oh, OK. Are you sure?”
And she was like,
“Uh-huh. Yup. You’ve got chemistry.”
Once McDonald explained to Heinle where the story was headed, she warmed up to the idea. Heinle approached Mealor to ensure he felt comfortable with the new pairing.
Mealor and Heinle Made Sure Each Other Was Comfortable With the Upcoming Romance
The two of them assured each other that they were OK and decided to give it their all. Heinle told TV Insider,
Heinle acknowledged that while there is an obvious age difference between Victoria and Kyle, they still have much in common, including their devotion to their fathers.
Heinle also said,
“Sometimes you meet someone, and for whatever reason, you’re put in their path, and then you’re like, ‘Oh, wait a minute, I really like this person. There’s something here.’ So, I feel like what has happened between them.”
Plus, Victoria’s daughter, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), recently told her mom she’s supposedly over Kyle.
While maybe a part of Victoria feels somewhat guilty, she doesn’t
“quite want to admit that yet.”
Apparently, Victoria and Kyle plan to keep their hot hook-up a secret for now.
The Fallout Between the Abbott and Newman Families Will Be Epic
Plus, Heinle can say that Hayley Erin (Claire) is very excited about the inevitable fallout between Victoria and Claire.
Heinle enthused,
“Everybody’s going to flip out.”
“We’re hoping they drag it out so that the families don’t know for a while, because I think that adds to the drama, to really prolong the anticipation of when somebody is going to find out.”
Of course, the two families being constantly at war only adds an even soapier layer to the situation. Y&R fans know that the Newmans and the Abbotts have been at war for decades.
Heinle is very excited to take Victoria
“in a direction she never expected.”
As for Victoria and Kyle, Heinle claims that their love story is just beginning, which means that this will be a very juicy storyline, for sure. Viewers need to get prepared for some explosive fireworks.
