The Jax side of the theory is considerably easier to connect to the current storyline because Josslyn’s father is already affecting her life without being physically present. Earlier in August, Josslyn learned something she never expected: Jax had handed control of Jasper Jacks Enterprises to her. Hudson informed her that Jax was sailing around the world and had named Josslyn CEO. For Josslyn, the decision initially felt less like a gift and more like a puzzle. Why would her father suddenly place such a major responsibility in her hands without speaking to her directly? Why was he unavailable when she needed answers? And why did the timing overlap so neatly with Brennan and the WSB becoming interested in JJE? Those questions have only grown more important as Josslyn accepted the CEO position while quietly using it as part of her WSB mission.
That means Jax does not actually need to walk into Port Charles tomorrow for his storyline to become explosive. His silence is already driving the mystery.
Josslyn has spent much of her life knowing that Jax could be distant geographically while remaining emotionally connected to her. The current situation feels different because she cannot simply call him and receive an explanation. He has effectively handed her a company, vanished into the background and left Hudson to help manage the practical consequences. That is strange enough to make Brennan suspicious and strange enough to make Josslyn question whether her father is truly enjoying a carefree trip around the world.
What if he isn’t?
That is where a potential Jax return becomes fascinating.
Imagine Josslyn sitting in the JJE office after another frustrating meeting with Hudson. She has uncovered irregularities buried somewhere in the company’s records—perhaps transactions, shell accounts or communications connected to a person Brennan has been investigating. She initially assumes the information proves somebody inside JJE has been using the company without Jax’s knowledge.
Then Hudson tells her there is someone waiting outside.
Josslyn looks up.
Jax walks in.
For a few seconds she cannot move.
Whatever anger she has been carrying disappears beneath pure relief.
She hugs him.
Then she pulls away and demands answers.
“Where have you been?”
Jax’s expression tells her this will not be a simple conversation.
He did not leave Port Charles business behind because he wanted a vacation.
He left because he discovered something.
That revelation could radically reshape Josslyn’s understanding of the company she has just inherited. Jax might explain that someone had been using JJE’s international operations for purposes he never authorized. At first he believed it was ordinary financial misconduct. Then he discovered connections that made the situation much more dangerous.
That could be the real reason he put Josslyn in charge.
Not because he expected her to run the company forever.
Because he needed someone he trusted.
Josslyn would immediately become furious.
“You put me in the middle of this without telling me?”
Jax could argue that if he had explained everything, whoever was monitoring him might have realized Josslyn knew too much.
Josslyn would respond that he has no idea what she is already involved in.
That statement could become the first major complication.
Jax may not know his daughter is working with the WSB.
Josslyn has been keeping that part of her life hidden from multiple people. Her work has already required secrecy and difficult choices, and her new position at JJE has now become useful cover.
If Jax discovers that the WSB deliberately placed his daughter inside his company, he could be furious.
He might blame Brennan immediately.
Josslyn would defend her decision.
Jax would tell her she does not understand what intelligence agencies do to people.
Josslyn could answer that she understands much more than he thinks.
That father-daughter confrontation alone could carry multiple episodes.
Jax wants Josslyn safe.
Josslyn wants Jax to recognize she is no longer a child.
Both believe the other has been hiding dangerous information.
Neither is entirely wrong.
The situation becomes even more explosive if Jax’s “shocking news” involves his brother Jerry Jacks. Speculation has already emerged around the possibility that Jerry could be connected to Jax’s unexplained lack of communication. Jerry has a long history of creating chaos, operating outside normal boundaries and placing the Jacks family in impossible situations. If Jax discovered Jerry had somehow become entangled with JJE again, he might have chosen silence because he was trying to isolate the threat.
Josslyn would hate that explanation.
Jerry represents exactly the kind of family legacy she would never want influencing her future.
If Jax returns and tells her Jerry is alive, active and somehow connected to whatever the WSB is investigating, suddenly Josslyn’s CEO position becomes far more personal.
She is not merely investigating a company.
She is investigating her own family.
Brennan could become extremely interested once he realizes Jax is back.
He might request a private meeting.
Jax refuses.
Josslyn becomes trapped between them.
Brennan tells her that Jax is withholding information relevant to national security.
Jax tells her Brennan is using her.
Josslyn has to decide whom she trusts.
That alone would be enough “shocking news” for one return.
But then imagine Dex appearing.
That development would be far more difficult to explain because Dex’s death profoundly changed Josslyn. His loss pushed her into grief, anger and ultimately a different path. Bringing him back could not be treated casually. General Hospital would need a substantial explanation for how a character believed dead could suddenly be standing in Port Charles again.
A mistaken identification seems unlikely without rewriting significant history.
A staged death would require explaining who arranged it and why.
A WSB operation could potentially provide a soap-style mechanism, particularly given how deeply Josslyn herself is now connected to intelligence work, but that would remain purely speculative until the show provides evidence.
Still, from a dramatic perspective, Dex returning after Josslyn has become a WSB operative would create remarkable symmetry.
Dex once lived a life built around dangerous assignments, secrecy and divided loyalties.
Josslyn hated how those secrets affected their relationship.
Now Josslyn herself is living a life in which she cannot always tell the people she loves what she is doing.
If Dex returned, he might barely recognize the woman she has become.
And Josslyn might finally understand him in ways she never could before.
Imagine Jax has just finished telling Josslyn something alarming about JJE when another person enters.
Josslyn turns.
Dex is standing there.
The shock would be almost impossible for her to process.
She might genuinely believe she is imagining him.
Dex says her name.
Josslyn backs away.
“No.”
He tries to approach.
She tells him not to.
For Josslyn, the first emotion may not even be happiness.
It could be anger.
If Dex survived and allowed her to believe he was dead, then every moment of grief suddenly becomes something he chose to let her endure.
She would demand to know why.
Dex’s answer would determine whether viewers could accept the return.
Perhaps he did not have a choice.
Maybe his survival placed him inside an operation so sensitive that contacting Josslyn would have put her in immediate danger. Maybe someone discovered he was alive before Port Charles did and used that knowledge to force him into hiding.
Or perhaps Dex was secretly recruited into a government operation after his recovery, paralleling Josslyn’s current WSB storyline.
That would be an enormous revelation.
Josslyn could stare at him and realize something horrifyingly ironic.
While she was joining the WSB, believing part of her old life was permanently gone, Dex may have been operating inside the same shadow world.
Neither knew what the other had become.
Now their paths have crossed again because of Jax.
That could be the real connection between the two returns.
Jax and Dex might not simply arrive separately.
They could arrive together.
Suppose Jax’s mysterious trip exposed him to a threat connected to JJE. During his attempt to investigate, he encounters a covert operative working under another identity.
That operative is Dex.
At first Jax does not trust him.
Dex proves he knows Port Charles.
Then Jax realizes exactly who he is.
The man his daughter mourned.
That would create an extraordinary dilemma for Jax.
Does he immediately tell Josslyn Dex is alive?
Dex asks him not to.
Why?
Because the operation is not finished.
Jax would be furious. He has no desire to participate in another secret that hurts his daughter.
Dex tells him that revealing the truth too early could lead whoever is targeting JJE directly to Josslyn.
Jax reluctantly agrees.
Eventually circumstances force both men back to Port Charles.
Now Josslyn discovers they have been keeping the same secret from her.
Her anger could be extraordinary.
“You both decided what I was allowed to know?”
Dex tries to explain.
Jax tries to explain.
Josslyn tells both of them to leave.
That reaction would be completely understandable.
The two men who claim to love and protect her have once again made life-changing decisions on her behalf.
Josslyn’s WSB experience could make the confrontation even more complicated because she knows exactly why operational secrecy sometimes exists.
Professionally, she understands.
Personally, she is devastated.
That contradiction would give the storyline real emotional weight.
Dex could then deliver his own shocking news.
Perhaps Jax is not the person truly being targeted.
Josslyn is.
Dex may have returned because an intelligence network discovered that someone has been tracking her since she became involved with the WSB.
Brennan could have known part of the threat.
He did not tell Josslyn because he believed he could manage it.
Dex learned otherwise.
That revelation would put Brennan under enormous scrutiny.
Josslyn could confront him immediately.
“You knew Dex was alive?”
Brennan hesitates.
That hesitation tells her everything.
Now Josslyn realizes the WSB has been manipulating far more of her life than she understood.
Her relationship with Brennan could fracture instantly.
Carly would become involved the moment she learns Dex is alive.
Her first reaction would probably be disbelief, followed by anger that Josslyn had been allowed to suffer.
Carly could demand answers from Brennan and Dex.
Jason might attempt to calm the situation long enough to understand what actually happened.
Jax would be equally furious about Josslyn’s WSB involvement.
Suddenly the room could contain nearly every person who believes they have a right to protect Josslyn.
Josslyn would finally explode.
She does not want another protector.
She wants the truth.
That could become the defining statement of the entire storyline.
Josslyn has spent years surrounded by people who keep secrets because they think secrecy keeps her safe.
Carly does it.
Jax does it.
Jason sometimes does it.
Brennan certainly does it.
Dex has done it.
Now Josslyn herself is doing the same thing through the WSB.
A Dex return could force her to confront the fact that she has become part of the exact pattern she once hated.
Perhaps that is the real purpose of bringing him back.
Not merely rekindling a romance.
Holding a mirror up to Josslyn.
Dex could tell her he understands why she joined the WSB.
Josslyn angrily says he does not understand anything.
Dex calmly points out that he knows exactly what it feels like to believe dangerous work gives your life purpose while slowly isolating you from everyone who loves you.
Josslyn does not want to hear it.
Because she knows he may be right.
The romantic implications would be enormous.
Josslyn did not simply stop loving Dex because he disappeared from her life. His death ended the relationship in a way neither chose. If he returns, those feelings do not automatically disappear.
But Josslyn would also be a different person now.
She cannot simply resume their relationship as though no time has passed.
Dex would be different too.
Whatever he experienced while presumed dead would change him.
Their reunion could therefore be painfully slow.
The first phase would be anger.
Josslyn refuses to forgive him.
Dex accepts that.
He does not pressure her.
